Getting Your Site Ready for Delivery
A little prep means a smooth delivery day. We deliver every building ourselves (free within 50 miles), and this is what we need from you before we arrive. Not sure your yard will work? Call us ahead of time. We would rather sort it out up front than on the day.
Clear the way
Take everything out of the path and off the building spot before we arrive: trash cans, vehicles, lawn equipment, boats, trailers and the like.
Gates and fences
Any gate we have to go through needs to be at least 1 foot wider than the building. We can't move a building over a fence, so a fence in the way has to come down.
Trees and wires
If we have to take the building under trees, trim the limbs up to about 13 ft 6 in. That is the clearance a building needs on the road, so it is a good rule of thumb. Limbs can damage your building.
Low overhead wires (power, phone, cable TV) are fine if we know about them. Tell us when we call ahead and we will plan around them.
Level ground
Build the spot up with something solid: concrete blocks, gravel, cement or bare dirt all work, sized for the building. Get it as close to level as you can. If the ground is more than 8 inches out of level, have concrete blocks on hand so we can build it up. Many yards are further out of level than they look, so check yours: stretch a string tight between stakes, level it, and measure down to the ground at each corner of the building spot.
How many blocks?
The blocks we recommend are the 8x8x16 inch standard cored concrete block and the 4x8x16 inch solid cap concrete block. This table shows how many of each a building needs for ground that is 1, 2 or 3 feet out of level. If you are in between, use the next row up. Don't see your size, or not sure? What we do
We deliver the building and set it in place. We provide the shims to level it once it is down, and we use your blocks to build up any low spots.
